1970's Inspired Elopement - Joshua Tree, California

When our friend, Canadian photographer Robin Sassi, approached us about collaborating on a styled shoot in Joshua Tree, we immediately said yes without hesitation. Robin mentioned she'd love to do something with a nod to the 1970s, and as someone who loves bell bottoms and shag haircuts, I ran with it!

Joshua Tree and the surrounding high desert community has a very chill, retro vibe and we wanted to embrace that while bringing in some modern flair. I think it all started when I saw a new linen in La Tavola's spring/summer 2019 line. The Anna in Butternut reminded me of my grandmother's wallpapered kitchen, with the hues of a Joshua Tree desert sunset.

One of the most magical moments during our shoot was when snow began to fall in the middle of Joshua Tree National Park. Quite the rare sight for us Angelenos, we knew it was a sign that we were making something special. Each and every one of our vendors fully committed to the vision and brought something to the table that helped create a scene that was not only stylish and romantic, but just plain COOL.

I think it's possible to have a wedding that evokes a couples personal style and quirkiness but still feels timeless when you look back at photos years later. Embracing your style is what makes you, YOU! With this shoot we hope to highlight the fun a couple can have while still capturing the beauty and romance of a wedding.
